Spain's Ordesa National
Park, in the central Pyrenees, is little known to many British
walkers and yet offers some of the most exciting adventure
walking in Europe. Situated near the village of Torla, towering
limestone peaks have been eroded to form impressive walking
routes. Let Boots And Gaiters show you what the area has
to offer. Try the Faja de las Flores, in our view one of
the most exciting routes in the world, and easily completed
in a day. Try also some of the clavijas (lit. 'pins'),
fixed items of scrambling equipment that are so characteristic
of this area, and a major advantage to the adventure walker.
You will need a head for heights, some experience of scrambling,
and a reasonable level of fitness. If you can reach the summit
of Snowdon and back in a day, you should have no problem
in the Ordesa. We would, however, recommend that you attended
the Boots And Gaiters Skye Scrambles or Snowdonia
Scrambles courses if you wish to gain maximum value
from the Ordesa.
Start point: Torla. Options might include
flying to Toulouse, Biarritz or Bilbao and hiring a car from
there.
